Black-Tie Pool Party
When the time came to add more family space to their
plain 1960's home, the owners decided to "amp up" the style, which
would set the tone for future work. The family areas were brought
right out to the well-used pool, and dressed up with paired
pilasters, tall cornice and roof railing for a touch of resort,
while allowing ample light and views. Softening the look is a curved
deck supported by a stone-based arcade. Inside, an 11 ft. high great
room is warmed by a stone fireplace and a deep grid of beams, while
the lower level provides a media room and handy changing rooms for
the pool.
